Submersible pumps are essential equipment for extracting water from deep wells. During operation, the entire unit is submerged to pump groundwater to the surface; the pump body must not sink into sludge or be exposed above the water surface, and the distance from the impeller center to the water surface should be maintained between 3 and 5 meters. They are used for domestic water supply, emergency mine drainage, industrial cooling, agricultural irrigation, seawater lifting, and ship ballast adjustment, as well as for fountain features. Hot-water submersible pumps are used for hot spring bathing and groundwater extraction from deep wells, as well as for water lifting projects involving rivers, reservoirs, and canals. They are primarily used for agricultural irrigation and supplying water to people and livestock in mountainous areas; they also serve applications such as central air conditioning cooling, heat pump and cold pump units, and drainage for cities, factories, railways, mines, and construction sites. Specially developed models can achieve stable, long-term pumping at temperatures up to 146°C. Generally, flow rates range from 5 to 650 m³/h, and heads range from 10 to 550 meters. Key features include compact size, light weight, ease of installation and relocation, and strong operational adaptability.


Based on the motor's sealing method, submersible pumps are classified into four types: dry, semi-dry, oil-filled, and wet.
